Singer-songwriter/guitarist Dylan Rice wrote "The
Faces of Victory" as a rock anthem inspired by the Gay Games--a kind of
"We Are the Champions" for the LGBT community. Together with the help of
STYX bassist Chuck Panozzo, his long-time friend and mentor, the recording
is a first-ever collaboration between the two out musicians. Rice and
Panozzo have been invited to perform "The Faces of Victory" at the Gay
Games Closing Ceremonies in summer 2006 in Chicago at Wrigley
Field. BIOGRAPHIES DYLAN RICE, a Utah-native and Chicago-transplant, has captivated audiences with his sultry vocals and driving guitar rhythms, drawing comparisons to Chris Isaak and Morrissey. The Advocate voted his debut CD, "Wandering Eyes," one of the “Top 10 Indie CD's of 2005," and the CD received the 2005 Outmusic Award for "Best Debut Recording - Male." His music has received airplay on commercial and college radio stations across the country, and has received coverage in the Chicago Tribune, Time Out, Chicago Magazine, Out, Genre, and Gay.com. (www.dylanrice.com) CHUCK PANOZZO is bass player and co-founder for the rock band STYX. After 30 years as STYX's only bassist, in 1991, he announced he was gay, living with HIV, and starting his own personal campaign for AIDS awareness and gay rights. A Chicago native, Chuck continues his campaign, performs and now resides in south Florida with his partner, artist/AIDS-activist Tim McCarron. |

The Faces of Victory Words and music by Dylan Rice / (c) 2006 Deep Tissue Publishing Now's the moment, take my hand, talk a walk with me Brother, sister, come together with dignity We are the face We are the faces of victory And we shine our name for the world to see and believe We made a place We made a place in history Just by being here, no apologies, you and me We will fight just to love, we will love even though we fight We will fight just to love, we will love even though we fight From the shadows, from the veils of secrecy come the people: We are many, and still growing We are the face We are the faces of victory And we shine our name for the world to see and believe We made a place We made a place in history Just by being here, no apologies, you and me We will fight just to love, we will love even though we fight We will fight just to love, we will love even though we fight We are the face We are the faces of victory It's our time--we're catching up, Love |
