Have a safe and happy new year, wherever you are in the world. We love you. Cheers to a great 2012!!!
December 28, 2011
It was truly an amazing year. Some of the highlights: STYX toured with YES, and released "Regeneration: Volume II," and did our best to come to a venue close enough so you could come get your STYX fix, Lawrence released and toured behind "Return of the Strange Animal," Todd released "Methods and Mechanics II" and I finished and released The Great Divide and performed songs from it live at the Gra...nd Ol's Opry. Plus we returned to the UK and toured with Journey and Foreigner, then we continued on our own to Sweden Rock. Now we're all enjoying some time with our families and friends at home, and the schedules are starting to come together for what looks like another very busy STYX year in 2012. Thank you all for making this possible! Cheers!!! T Shaw

STYX ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE “DIANA WARNER FOR STYX” JEWELRY LINE

PRE-ORDERS AVAILABLE FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Legendary rockers STYX--Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Chuck Panozzo, Lawrence Gowan, Ricky Phillips and Todd Sucherman—have teamed up with jewelry designer Diana Warner (www.dianawarnerstudio.com) to create the “Diana Warner for Styx” jewelry collection, which was made available exclusively on the band’s official website (www.styxworld.com) on November 11, just in time for holiday shopping.

Each piece is hand-made in Diana Warner’s New York City studio, with prices ranging from $55-$200. The first items available are eight dog tag necklaces made of 30 inch chains of gunmetal, antique gold or antique silver plate over brass. The charms are made of pewter and rose gold, gunmetal, antique gold or antique silver. They’ll also be selling guitar pick earrings available in 4 finishes: gunmetal, rose gold, antique gold and antique silver, as well as antique gold and silver charms with one of the band’s well-recognized lyrics, “Come Sail Away With Me.”

This is only the first part of the “Diana Warner for Styx” collection. Multiple styles of limited edition charms will be created in 2012, which will be sold in a small number and will be considered collector’s items. A full line of “Diana Warner for Styx” jewelry will be made available in 2012. This is the first collection Diana has designed for a band and collaborated on this project with singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw’s wife, Jeanne Shaw.
“The second we saw Diana’s pieces, we knew we wanted to work with her,” says Jeanne. “We’re so thrilled to be able to offer something very special to STYX’s fans that’s worlds different than anything we’ve done before. We hope they love the collection as much as we do.”

In touring news, STYX is continuing to criss-cross the U.S. in support of REGENERATION, VOLUME I & II, a double-disc collection of re-recorded classics that was released on October 4 via Eagle Rock Entertainment. In addition to thirteen STYX classics and a brand new song “Difference In The World REGENERATION, VOLUME I & II also includes interpretations of “High Enough,” and “Coming Of Age,” originally recorded by Damn Yankees, which featured Tommy Shaw, along with Night Ranger’s Jack Blades, Ted Nugent and drummer Michael Cartellone. The band had originally re-recorded these acclaimed anthems to sell only at their live shows, as they continued to tour the globe and introduce a new generation of fans to their chart-topping hits. Now, for the first time, this music has been made commercially available.

Saw the sun come up this morning at Gate C23 in the Las Vegas airport. Private STYX show there last night at the MGM Grand Arena. It was a whole lotta fun. And now it feels like I'm home from the last day of school. When I was a kid that mean shirt and shoes off because it was so hot and humid (in June, July and August) that's just what you did in Prattville, Alabama. Not because you were auditioning for a 1991 episode of COPS.
I suppose I could pull it off again now. I have been eating healthy and working out and it might make for some good TMZ footage but I just ain't that kinda guy. It would just be effin' weird. And THAT just makes me want to do it!
I wonder what I'd be like if I still drank and did drugs? Well for one thing this Facebook page would more than likely be non-existent because of all the bad decisions I'd made over the last 22 years. In fact I might be non-existent by now. PROBABLY. Ha!
My friend who is a big exec in LV took me to dinner last night before the show to one of the most awesome restaurants there where I was so high on the tasty treats they were serving it was all I could do to keep from yelping out a Prattville infused "WOOOOOO-HOOOOO!!!!!!!" I'm so grateful to be able to sit at such a table and enjoy something like that. Life has been good to me and I've survived my stupidest years in order to be able to enjoy life as we know it now as a member of this amazing band and its extended family. Thanks to all of you long time fans for supporting STYX the way you have, and to all of you new, first timers for giving us the chance to earn your support. It's been an honor for us to stand before you this past year.
Somebody stop me before this gets too deep.
All I can tell you is that I love it. WE LOVE IT and we ain't done yet.

Jason captured something here very few ever see: One of our little rituals before we take the stage... While the intro music plays, a little piece by The Who, I pass him the pick and Lawrence plays the right hand while I play the left. Silly, sure, but it does help align our focus and helps in the transition from the dressing room to the stage.
Fun rules.

Jason and I went out searching for coffee here in Columbia, SC (our bus was away fueling and getting a wash so no STYX Coffee Fool beans available!) and we came across Peace Love and Rocky Roast. Through the window we could see a big roasting machine. That's a sign of commitment! And sure enough, a double shot mocha proved that theory to be true. Incredible. Locally owned and operated. Game on the TV, free wi-fi, environmentally friendly too. But most of all a smokin' mocha!

Fun first night at Fallsview! Excellent crowd too. And so many familiar faces in the audience, which was a very nice surprise. It is a great place to to visit and end the day with a STYX concert. Gonna be fun putting the set together for tomorrow night. Is that rain I hear on my windows again? Doesn't matter--we're indoors! See you there...
September 29, 2011

Hello from Fallsview! We all arrived at various times yesterday evening from all points. I awoke to the sound of rain and it was coming down hard out there. Beautiful way to wake up. It's a dramatic day here. By the time we got down to the espresso bar and over to the venue, the truck was not only unloaded but the show was set up and Gary was sounding out the P.A. and man does it sound good. What a killer concert hall. My tech Jimmy Johnson is from here so it's a homecoming for him. He should be on the marquis! We're heading down to sound check and rehearse for a television taping that's coming up in a week or so, doing a few edits to fit into their production schedule, and we're putting our sets together for the three nights here. The sun is poking its head through the clouds but no matter what it's beautiful here rain or shine!

Off we go to Pomona and one more show with REO. Always a good time!
September 25, 2011

Eddie Trunk stopped by The Joint for our show last night with REO and came back afterwards to catch up. His show TMS will be beginning it's 9th season!!! Where did the time go? He's THE MAN there when it comes to music. Here's to many more years my brother!!! (Jason Powell photo)
September 24, 2011
Good morning from Las Vegas! I love waking up, looking at the map on my phone and seeing exactly where we are. Super smooth ride overnight from Salt Lake City and I feel refreshed after a high energy night with REO there. It's been a while since we worked together but bands and crews picked up where we left of and it was a brotherly/sisterly love fest of harmony and fun, on stage and off. Brian Hitt was in our dressing room before our set and Todd was complimenting him on his new rig and Brian laughed and said, "I got that two years ago and I'm about ready to retire it!" It HAS been a while!!! REO looks and sounds great and the fans sure seemed to be in high spirits.
Vegas seems so innocent at this hour of the morning. We all know better don't we? Still, I enjoy the almost eerie sense of calm and quiet that belies what will be going on in a few hours here as we sneak in through the back entrance and pretty much have the place to ourselves for a couple of hours or so.
See you tonight!!!

To all our Texas brothers and sisters who joined us for the fundraiser last night in Midland, thanks for the hospitality and for making it a night to remember.
September 22, 2011

Special thanks to Larry Satterfield and the amazing staff at Strawberry Fields in Midland, Texas who took good care of Jason and me when we were shopping next door at the Natural Foods store. Larry's a big collector of Rock'N'Roll memorabilia and his people make a mean smoothie! T Shaw

I'm listening to the test pressing of a limited edition of the original Pieces of Eight album that will soon be available on 180 gram vinyl. What a pleasant surprise and quite frankly an unexpected flashback to the the first time I heard it on vinyl in 1978. It comes across as beautifully sizzling and punchy on this disc as I remember it sounding in the studio when we were mixing it. Every song a pleasant experience as I listen down.
On the opening track "The Great White Hope" I got a visual of John Panozzo behind his drums that put a big smile on my face. If you've been toying with the idea of getting a turntable or taking your old one out of storage, this might be the album that makes that decision a little easier to make, and could kick that door open to the wonderful world of sound that awaits.
The title track "Pieces of Eight" is playing now. Gotta sing along!

Show Cancellation - Cohassett, MA

In light of recent developments with regard to Hurricane Irene’s projected path towards New England, the Styx performance at the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset, MA on Sunday, August 28, 2011 has been cancelled.  The safety of our fans is of utmost importance to us at all of our shows.  Recent events have been unfortunate reminders that we must continue to prioritize the safety of all involved and closely monitor weather advisories from city and state governments in each city we play.

As Massachusetts prepares its state and their citizens for the potential hit of Hurricane Irene, the South Shore Music Circus is following the advice of safety concerns in Cohasset and cancelling the August 28 show.  Due to the heavy Styx touring schedule and the conclusion of the Music Circus concert season, this show will not be re-scheduled.  Refunds will be issued through the South Shore Music Circus.  They will provide updated details on the refund process as soon as they become available at http://www.themusiccircus.org

IF YOU PURCHASED PRE-SALE TICKETS THROUGH STYXWORLD.COM:  You will receive an email from styxworld.com within the next 24 hours with your refund information.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we hope to see our friends in the Boston area in 2012!

Please exercise caution as you see severe weather warnings in your area and we look forward to seeing you soon!

We send our love and regrets to the family, friends and fans of Jani Lane who died yesterday in California. As frontman for WARRANT, Jani will be remembered for many WARRANT hits but especially "Cherry Pie" which came bursting out in the beginning of the "Hair Band" era, taking front and center stage at radio and on Rock TV, and still reminds us just what fun days those were for high harmonies, big hair, big guitar solos and big bad attitudes, with a wink in the eye that told you it was all in good fun (but that parents still needed to worry). Thank you for that, brother Jani.
