Notes:

Growing up in the Roseland area of Chicago, Dennis DeYoung formed a combo with two
15 year old neighbors; by 1970, the group had grown up to become Styx. Within Styx, DeYoung
acted as lead vocalist, keyboardist, accordion player, producer, writer and creative force
behind many of the band's hit songs.

A self-taught keyboardist, DeYoung quickly became one of the most notable players
of that instrument in rock and went on to pioneer theuse of synthesizers in rock and roll.
He performed with Styx for almost thirty years, while the group recorded dozens of albums;
he also performed and recorded solo. In the spring of 2008, Bailiwick Repertory Theatre
in Chicago premiered a musical written by DeYoung based on The Hunchback of Notre
Dame, which won a Jeff Award for Mid-sized Musical.

Live at Maxim's will be recorded and excerpts will be played on Rick's Sunday morning
show on WGN radio, "Sunday Papers with Rick Kogan" (6:30-9 am Sundays, 720 AM).
Rick Kogan is a senior writer and "Sidewalks" columnist for the Chicago Tribune Sunday
Magazine.
