9/25/00 - Jumpin' & Jivin' in Jersey Baby...

Hello from my seat on the American jet going to LA,

After a somewhat sleep-deprived but unforgettable week, we are once again heading home for a few days off.

Last night we played in a baseball stadium in Trenton, NJ to a massive crowd of true fans who sat through the drizzle that was coming down during REO's fire breathing set (yes, they rode out another storm...) and were rewarded with clear skies for the duration of our performance.

I mentioned to them that "It was great to be in the land of Glen Burtnik" and it was clear they knew what I was talking about. Let's face it, New Jersey has a soft spot for Burtnik.

We haven't been to New Jersey in a while but we were reminded right away of the die-hard spirit of these fans who aren't the least bit shy about letting it show. Such a good looking crowd who came there for a good time and made sure they had it.

There was a little incident during "Lorelei" that was unfortunate. The security guard in the pit just in front of JY must have been getting fatigued because he started getting excessively strict with the fans who were standing and leaning on the barricade. I couldn't help notice him making everyone step back and take their hands off it. Suddenly the show for them was about trying to figure out what his problem was. Keith and Jimmy came to the aid of the fans and the security guard was given the rest of the night off. No harm done and back to the show, but it was just one of those needless distractions for fans who had gone to a lot of trouble to enjoy their front row status.

Once that was behind us, the show got back on track and locomoted its way though the mild Jersey night. With winter coming, there won't be too many more of those this year, which made it all the more magic. -----------------

It is now the next day and I am between Canadian radio interviews. Did anyone see "Sex In The City" last night? They mentioned us. Very cute!

Later...
