07-Jul-96 Who are these people... STYX fans in Biloxi were treated to an indoor version of "The Return to Paradise Theatre" Saturday night at the Gulf Coast Coliseum. During the concert when JY asked "How many of you were here when we performed in 1981?" the rest of the band looked truly caught off guard when a tremendous roar of acknowledgment came back from the crowd. It didn't help to see several pre-teenage fans in the first couple of rows, singing the words to every song. "I still cannot get a fix on who this audience is," laughed Chuck Panozzo. "It seems to be anyone from babies still carried by their pregnant mothers to people in their 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's! It is unbelievable!" That's it, I've had it... Dennis DeYoung looked anything but stressed this afternoon lounging under his cabana on the beach with his wife Suzanne at STYX's hotel in West Palm Beach, Florida. When people were not bringing him cool things to drink or delicious looking things to eat he was signing autographs for very well mannered fans who could not resist the opportunity to meet the man behind the voice. He was overheard telling Tommy Shaw, "Dammit, Tommy, I can't work under these conditions." Poor guy ;-) |
