08-Aug-96 Reno Baby!!! Last night Reno fans and STYX enjoyed the concert under the stars next to the Hilton Hotel and Casino, where the stage had been erected along with huge bleachers brought in just for the show. Steve Walsh commented to the guys on how dry the wind was and how it made singing a bit difficult, but all agreed he sounded better than ever. Dennis braced himself by wearing sunglasses to protect his peepers from the gusty desert wind. The show was in full swing when smoke clouds from a nearby forest fire in the mountains blew in. The guys just kept drinking their bottled water and never missed a note. Earlier that afternoon, Jeanne had come running into soundcheck with a handful of cash and a big smile, announcing she'd won big on the slot machines. When the show was over, everyone found their way to the casino and played their game of choice. After most of the crew had called it a day, Jeanne was still raking in the coins, even until the last slot machine at the gate at the airport, where she kept winning. Suzie Young's first words to her, "Where are you taking us for dinner?" |
