Hello Friends,
We're in Tampa-St Pete this morning after driving here overnight from
Ft. Myers.
Once again we had one of those fired up STYX crowds that was not content
with waiting for our pacing to motivate them to their feet. At the
end of "One With Everything" they rose to their feet and
gave us a standing ovation that really took us by surprise. It was
as if they were going to show US how it was done, not the other way
around, but you don't throw that gauntlet down in our world without
it being tossed right back by the men in STYX. It was like, "Oh
yeah? Well, check this out." We loved it!
By the time we got to "Come Sail Away, " the band was steaming
in such a way that it reminded me of The Who in the late 60's ready
to smash guitars and blow up drums. It was a thrill ride you wanted
to ride again and a gain and again. Thank you Ft. Myers. I feel like
I need a smoke now.
We brought along my old maple top Taylor 12-string acoustic for the
bus ride so that we could go over our arrangement of the National Anthem.
This morning we have a photo session with Rick Diamond, after which
the Tampa Bay Lightning will be picking us up from the shoot to go
over and sing the National Anthem at the opener of their playoff game
with the New York Islanders here in Tampa. If you recall, the National
Anthem was Ricky's first gig with us at Heinz Stadium in Pittsburgh.
It's our favorite extra curricular activity.
After tonight, we'll all head back to our respective homes to get
our affairs in order there so we can head out on our tour with peter
Frampton and Nelson, and we'll be off to the races for the rest of
the spring, summer and fall. It's time. Let's do this!
We're loving these Florida STYX fans. Man oh man, bring it on!!!
See you tonight in St. Petersburg!
