Hello Friends,
We're in Indianapolis now, still buzzing from last night's concert
in Cleveland. The adrenaline levels are so high, it's hard to want
to do anything other than get back on the stage and do it again.
Todd and I ran up to see Matthew and Gunnar's first performance and
as we neared the stage level, I though I was hearing a full band. (Weren't
they going to perform acoustically?) As we got closer I realized it
was just the sound of their Jumbo Gibsons, the way they were giving
them a pounding as they serenaded the the fans who had gotten there
right on time to see, as JY likes to call them the "Grandsons
of Ozzie..." In their dressing room before their set I did a little
harmonizing with them but their voices sound so perfect together I
felt like an intruder.
Peter and his band were in Rock Solid form, Peter's voice and guitar
playing as brilliant as ever. I overheard him warming up his fingers
in a room next to our dressing room and there was no mistaking his
style and tone. A true journeyman, Peter remains the musician's musician.
Our set came off virtually without a hitch, unheard of for first nights.
We're very pleased with the new set design. Even our designer, Jeff
Ravitz, told me on the way out last night that he likes it better than
anything we've done in years, and from Jeff that's a big compliment,
especially since he's been there with us for over two decades and in
that time become an Emmy Award winning designer.
I'm heading off to Starbuck's to use my coffee credit card (given
to me by a very sweet STYX fan) and get myself a cup of Joe. Do STYX
fans have our number or what?! Time to get this motor running!
I know this tour will fly by so I'm trying to enjoy every minute.
