Hello from Ohio!
BLUE ASH SPORTS CENTER
BLUE ASH, OH
JULY 4, 2004
Photo: Krista Wallhagen
It's late here in Ohio. We just played for over 100,000
screaming fans here at the festival in Blue Ash and the weather was
perfect for us. Any weather where there are 100,000 fans is good weather
for us, come to think of it, but the humidity level was just what the
doctor ordered for us to be singing at the top of our range and completely
in our comfort zone. We've been performing so frequently lately we
are like a bull charging through the P.A. System. Usually by the time
we have played this much we are a little tired of each other's constant
company, but because we've been changing it up as often as possible,
including taking sons in and out of the medley, playing one, two or
three covers in the set, and even having guest players join us, it's
kept it very fresh and even pumped up our energy all the more. This
is nirvana for a band. We'll all benefit from a couple of days home,
then return to finish out the month before taking a serious break.
Peter Frampton and his band were an absolute joy to work with, as
were Matthew and Gunnar Nelson. It was the smoothest, summer camp-like
tour perhaps to date, including peer respect for one another's crews,
which is even more rare. I hope you had a chance to experience it with
us.
The world is changing so quickly from day to day, it's a little bit
mind boggling, but it's our job to keep offering an alternative to
watching the news 24/7. To remind ourselves and others that there is
still beauty and laughter to be had and enjoyed between friends as
we all go about our day to day business, watching world events unfold.
We wish the men and women in uniform all over the world a safe passage
and a swift return Stateside so we can once again enjoy your company
at one of our shows. We thank you for you courageous and unselfish
service.
There is much to be grateful on this Independence Day. God Bless The
USA!!!
