Greetings From Colorado
DENVER, CO
MAY
25, 2004
Hello Friends,
We're in Denver at a local recording studio, doing some more post
production on our 2120 recordings. We had an 18 hour trip from Sacramento
to Denver, and used the time to go over a few of the songs we'll be
jamming on when we get to Dallas next month to perform at the Crossroads
benefit concert. Ricky and I had the back lounge Rockin' with Hendrix,
Yardbirds, Steely Dan, and others as we played around with possible
songs. My excitement was soon dampened by what appeared to be the death
of my Powerbook's hard drive. I spent hours defragmenting, optimizing
and all the various voodoos any of us could come up with, but it wasn't
until I went to the Apple Store in Cherry Creek and the techs at the
Genius Bar put a whooping on it that it once again breathed the fresh
digital air into its virtual lungs and I was able to get back on line
again. Now I'm in the control room enjoying Lawrence's recording on
the vintage Hammond organ they have in house. Ain't nothin' like the
real thing, baby, as the song says.
Los Angeles, Concord and Sacramento were all great shows. It was a
treat for us to see so many friends at the Universal Amphitheater,
especially Angie and Nicki Dickinson. They always light up the room
with their smiles. Roseanna Arquette was there when Jeanne and I arrived.
She was filming some of the band members for a new documentary she's
working on. I saw Z Zimmerman in the audience who was very instrumental
in the success we had at A&M back in the days when we were there.
I had not see her in a month of Sundays and I almost forgot my place
in the song when I spotted her. I can tell I am a little behind on
my notes from the shows--I'll try and keep more current, especially
now that my PowerBook is running better than ever!
Nelson, Peter Frampton and his band are all in such great form, it
is very exciting to witness from night to night.
See you soon...
